Tips for Providers
Information required to advertise a property on FedUni Private Housing Service
You are required to provide us with your full name, full street address and contact details before we can advertise your listing. These are for office use only. Current FedUni students will only see the name of the street the vacancy is in, as well as any contact details you have chosen to make available to them. It is up to you to if you want to provide further details when you speak to students to arrange an inspection.
We strongly encourage providers to obtain tenancy information from Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) by calling 1300 55 81 81 or visiting their website.

Register as a provider
Before you can start advertising your listings on the Federation University Private Housing Service you must first register as a provider.
To register, click on the 'Register' link on the 'Accommodation providers' section of the home page. This will take you to the ‘Register as an accommodation provider’ page where you are required to:
- enter your email address
- enter a password (your password must be at least 6 characters long)
- select the type of provider you are from the drop-down list.
- enter your full name (note that Federation University students will only see your first name)
- enter your primary phone number
- enter your postal address (this will not be displayed to students)
- enter a different phone number to the one you previously entered should you wish to provide another contact number to students (this information is optional)
- if you have a fax number you wish to provide to students (this information is optional)
- select your preferred way for students to contact you
- select the ‘Terms and Conditions’ link to read the provider Terms and Conditions. It is important that you read this carefully prior to submitting your registration as it details your obligations as a provider
- if you have read, and agree to the terms and conditions, click on the checkbox to record your agreement
- if all your information is complete and correct select the ‘Register’ box
Note that if you have not completed all of the required information, you will be advised how many fields are incorrect. To find out which information is missing, click on the ‘OK’ button. Next, enter the missing information as required and re-select the ‘Register’ box. If you are still experiencing difficulties, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have completed all of the required information you will receive on-screen notification that your registration has been successful. You can now add your listing
Once you have successfully registered as a provider and every time you sign in to the Federation University Private Housing Service you will be taken to your Dashboard. From your Dashboard you can easily edit your provider details, add a new listing or check on the status of your listing(s).
Clicking on the ‘Home' tab at the top of your Dashboard takes you back to the Federation University Private Off Campus Accommodation Service home page where you can add a new listing; update your details; or return to your dashboard.
Clicking on the ‘Rooms' tab at the top of your Dashboard takes you to the 'Find rooms in shared housing page' where you can search for other shared housing listings. Although you are probably not looking for housing yourself, you might find it useful to see what other shared housing is being advertised to FedUni students. You can display all shared housing listings by simply clicking on the ‘Find’ button or by selecting any of the other fields to narrow your search.
Clicking on the ‘Properties tab’ at the top of your Dashboard takes you to the Find properties to rent page where you can search for other vacant property listings. Although you are probably not looking for housing yourself, you might find it useful to see what other vacant properties are being advertised to FedUni students. You can display all vacant properties by simply clicking on the ‘Find’ button or by selecting any of the other fields to narrow your search.
Clicking on the ‘Campuses' tab at the top of your Dashboard takes you to a list of Federation University Campuses: Mt Helen, SMB, Camp St, Ararat, Stawell, Horsham and Gippsland. Clicking on a campus link will give you more information about that campus, including a map of the area (which may help you determine the nearest campus to your listing). Clicking on the ‘Find listings near …’ link will display all the currently advertised listings near the campus you have selected.
Add a listing tab
Clicking on the ‘Add a listing tab’ at the top of your Dashboard takes you to the 'List student accommodation' page where you can add a new listing.
View your listings
You can quickly view one of your listings by clicking on its’ link. You can also check on the status of your listing(s) via your Dashboard.
The listing statuses that are displayed to you are:
Draft: a listing you have started entering but have not yet completed and submitted for approval. You can click on the link to finish entering the listing details and submit it for approval at any time.
Awaiting approval: a listing which you have submitted and is awaiting approval by FedUni Living. You should not make changes to any listings awaiting approval.
Current: a listing which is currently published (visible to students).
Closed: a listing which is no longer visible to students (has either been closed by you or has expired).
Pre-listed: a listing which has been approved by FedUni Living but is not yet available for rental.
Note that any of your listings which have been rejected by FedUni Living will NOT appear on your Dashboard.
